The Queensland Mental Health Commission, in partnership with the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health launched the ‘Pathways to Mental Wellbeing report – A systematic analysis of the non-government (NGO) community mental health sector in Queensland’, at a breakfast event in Cairns last week. The purpose of the report is to assist in positioning the Queensland non-government community mental health services sector for the future.

The systemic analysis was completed by Griffith University and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute and included a literature review and consultation with people with lived experience of mental illness, including carers, family, kin and other supporters; NGO staff; and other stakeholders.

“This is an important piece of work for the sector which identifies some key areas to sustain and develop the sector into the future.  We will be using the findings of this report to seek investment into the sector in the lead up to the state election later this year,” QAMH CEO Jennifer Black told the gathering.
