How to Apply for a Scholarship

  • Check you are eligible to submit an application and become familiar with the application process.

  • Complete the Application form and submit by the nominated date and time. Late applications will not be accepted.

  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online group interview. The online interview is a mandatory part of the assessment process.

  • Scholarship applicants will be notified after interviews take place and successful applicants will be emailed enrolment and onboarding information.

Round three scholarship applications open Thursday 28 March for people living in Northern Queensland, including Mackay, Charters Towers, Townsille, Mt Isa, Normanton and surrounds.

Eligibility Criteria

Make sure you are eligible to apply for a Peer Work Scholarship (use checklist below)

  • I am 17 years or older and no longer in school, and I am a resident of Queensland

  • I am an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a holder of a permanent residence visa, or a migrant, refugee or asylum seeker holding a temporary or bridging visa providing work and/or study rights

  • I have a lived experience of mental health challenges and /or suicidality as a consumer, carer, family member and

    • am employed with a mental health or suicide prevention service provider in a Peer Worker role

    OR

    • wishing to seek employment in a Peer Worker role
  • I can meet the attendance and study requirements to complete the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work course, including attending an 80-hour work placement.

There are a number of Registered Training Organisations (RTO) throughout Queensland offering the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.

Round 2:
Scholarship Applications open for people who want to study with TAFE Queensland at Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast or Brisbane Southbank locations, commencing study in January 2024.

Round 3:
Scholarship Applications open for people living in Mackay, Charters Towers, Townsville, Mt Isa, Normanton and surrounds
March 2024
Round 4:
Scholarship Applications open for people living in Cairns, Cooktown, and wider NQ region.
April 2024
Round 5:
Scholarship Applications open to all Queensland residents.
May 2024
Round 6:
Scholarship Applications open to people livih in Longreach, Charleville, Roma, Emerald, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay and surrounds.
August 2024
