Response Paper NDIA Support Coordination Discussion Paper

Category: Submissions
This discussion paper outlines the issues raised by the sector with the introduction of recovery coaches by the NDIA in 2020. Discussion focused on the need for clear role delineation between support coordinator and recovery coach, inequitable renumeration between the two roles, and the different standards of qualifications required by the NDIA to perform these roles. QAMH is concerned that, rather than being a useful addition to the suite of services offered to people with psychosocial disability, recovery coaches have been treated as a cost-saving measure. The two roles provide distinctly different types of skills and knowledge and therefore one should not be funded to the detriment of the other.
