Mental Health Industry Connector Project
17 September 2024
Category: Projects
The employment of a suitably qualified and skilled workforce that is sufficient in size to meet demand remains one of the challenges facing the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector today.
QAMH is funded by Jobs Queensland under the Queensland Care Consortium to pilot a project to strengthen the relationship between two TAFE Queensland campuses (Mooloolaba and Southbank), students, and the broader Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector.
This project aims to create a strong pipeline of well-prepared workers into our sector by assisting students of the TAFE Certificate IV in Mental Health (CHC43315) enrolled at TAFE Queensland Mooloolaba or Southbank campuses to successfully complete the course and graduate with an understanding of the Community and Mental Health and Wellbeing sector. The hope is graduating students who receive additional support throughout their study will go on to secure fulfilling jobs within the sector.
Certificate IV in Mental Health Students
Students of the Certificate IV in Mental Health enrolled at TAFE Queensland Mooloolaba or Southbank campuses have the opportunity to participate in the Mental Health Industry Connector project. This means they will have access to:
- Regular online Industry Connections monthly meetings facilitated by QAMH staff where industry guest speakers will present on study unit themes, provide insight to the sector and sett expectations around placement and employment opportunities. Students will also have to opportunity to provide and/or ask for support while building networks within the industry.
- Access to additional resources and information regarding the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector.
If you are a TAFE Queensland student studying the Certificate IV in Mental Health, learn more and sign up to access meetings and resources.
QAMH Members
As part of this project, we are also offering our members the chance to join a statewide Quarterly Vocational Placement online network run by TAFE Queensland. This network opportunity will keep your organisation connected to the future workforce and better outline the vocational placement experience. Currently the project focus is for Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast – Members in and surrounding these areas are encouraged to join the network.
