Australia’s Disability Strategy Review

Category: Submissions
Australia’s Disability Strategy (ADS) provides priorities for governments at all levels to drive change to uphold the rights, inclusion and participation of people with disability in all areas of Australian life. As we navigate the NDIS transitional period and critical gap in psychosocial supports, QAMH believe it will be essential that ADS enables states and territories, federal government and people with Lived Experience work together to achieve the best outcomes for the population. In this submission we recommend that the ADS:
- Promotes greater coordination across all levels of government
- Develops improved reporting mechanisms;
- Specifically seeks to include lived experience perspectives from people with psychosocial disability as a priority cohort;
- Prioritises provision of personal and community supports for psychosocial disability (psychosocial supports) within the disability ecosystem.
