Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH) is a trusted and respected peak body in the mental health sector. We take a progressive approach to community mental health, one that promotes community-based and socially inclusive mental health care.
Our aim is to build the capacity of organisations that support the full spectrum of conditions that impact a person’s health, wellbeing and recovery, reducing the burden on the individual and their family, communities, governments and hospital systems.
At QAMH, we build strong partnerships to keep us connected with community issues and inform our policy work and advocacy campaigns. Through our partnerships, we take collective action to work on health systems planning and reform, improving access to quality services and changing stigma surrounding mental health.
Our sector is strengthened through collaboration and establishing new connections. With access to a network of more than 100 organisations working in community mental health, we promote a coordinated approach to care, ensuring essential services get to those who need help.

We believe all people should feel appreciated, accepted and respected in their community and able to participate and contribute meaningfully. At QAMH, we engage organisations, peer-workers and people with lived experience to develop ideas for positive change.
At QAMH, we place a strong focus on engaging with community mental health organisations in rural and regional areas of Queensland. We have a dedicated regional engagement coordinator to support and facilitate strong regional alliances across the state.
QAMH leads and represents its members and the community mental health sector. Our role in advocating and empowering our community allows us to draw attention to barriers to mental health treatment and support, as well as promote the rights of persons with a lived experience.
QAMH advocates on behalf of our members, giving them the opportunity to influence the community mental health landscape. We have strong partnerships with government and key decision makers, and sit on a number of strategic leadership groups where we use our influence to shape mental health policy and legislation.

QAMH represents a trusted and influential voice to governments on mental health policy and strategic reform. We engage in the legislative process, make submissions, and respond to critical emerging issues important to our members.

At QAMH, we believe education can help create communities where people with a mental health issue are valued and properly supported through their recovery. We provide opportunities for our members to meet, learn, and grow by sharing stories and talking to leading researchers and other sector experts.
We also deliver a range of training sessions to meet the diverse needs of mental health professionals, consumers and carers, and help build a stronger workforce in the sector. Our workshops, events and conferences provide opportunities for learning, skill-building and professional development, and are supported by the latest, evidence-based information.
