QAMH has secured funding to implement key actions from the Workforce strategy.

Implementing the Strategy

The workforce is the backbone of the Community Mental Health Sector, yet attracting and retaining them to meet demand has proven difficult.
With the support of Queensland Health’s funding commitment until June 2029, QAMH is implementing key actions from the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy 2024-2029. This Strategy addresses the specific workforce issues within the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector and was launched on October 2, 2024

Project timeline

This project is structured in three phases: Establish, Grow, and Flourish.​
Establish
We are currently in the Establish phase (FY 2024–25 to FY 2025–26), focused on building foundational elements. This includes developing a Core Competency Framework, auditing professional development offerings, designing a traineeship model, and creating a “Grow Your Own Workforce” plan. We are also prioritising worker wellbeing and mapping career pathways. A Multicultural and a First Nations Reference Group will be formed to shape tailored strategies and ensure all deliverables support a diverse workforce.​
