QAMH Online Members Forum: Understanding Birth Trauma and the Impacts on Mental Health

QAMH Members are invited to join us for our Online Members Forum with Viv Kissane OAM, CEO from Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness.

In Queensland, 1 in 3 mothers/birth parents describe their experience of giving birth as traumatic.  Birth trauma can be physical, psychological or a combination of both.  Birth trauma can undermine mental health and wellbeing in early parenthood, and for 1 in 10 birth parents will lead to post-traumatic stress disorder.  Recovery from a traumatic birth can be stressful, complicated, and extend over a prolonged period.  This session aims to provide an overview about birth trauma; its impacts on mental health, and engage in discussion on trauma informed ways of caring and supporting families through these experiences and towards healing.

We look forward to having Members join us for QAMH’s final Members Forum of 2024.
