Members Only
Come along to our Members Forum where we will be joined by Georgia Thomas (She/Her/They/Them) and Hannah Kirby (She/Her) from Eating Disorders Queensland (EDQ).
This is an introductory training session about eating disorders designed for people who may interact with someone experiencing an eating disorder but are not providing clinical/medical treatment.
This presentation will provide participants with knowledge about eating disorders, how to identify eating disorders (including disordered eating or body image concerns), in the context of diet culture, weight stigma, and social media, and ways to challenge harmful narratives that these constructs promote. It will also cover practical ways to implement a conversation with a loved one who is experiencing eating or body image concerns and where to access support for themselves or loved ones.
It is hoped that after the training, those who attend would:
- Have a better understanding of eating disorders
- Have gained the knowledge and skills to support clients with an eating disorder through early identification and appropriate referrals
- Have the appropriate language to assist clients
- Be able to break down eating disorder stigma in the community
