Welcome to the Micro-credential: Workplace Wellbeing Leadership in the Community Mental Health Sector

Leading in community mental health is deeply human work. It means holding care, responsibility and complexity at the same time — supporting others through emotionally demanding situations while navigating real pressures around workload, systems, funding and change.

This micro-credential is designed to support you in that space.

It focuses on the role of managers and team leaders in shaping everyday wellbeing — not through grand gestures or one-off initiatives, but through the small, relational and practical decisions that influence how safe, supported and sustainable work feels day to day.

Across this micro-credential, you’ll explore what workplace wellbeing really looks like in community mental health contexts. You’ll build your understanding of psychosocial safety, learn how to recognise early signs of distress or struggle, and develop practical strategies to support your team before pressure turns into burnout. You’ll also examine how person-centred, relational leadership can strengthen connection, fairness and psychological safety — especially across diverse teams and roles.

You’ll hear from leaders, managers and workers across Queensland who share their experiences, challenges and learnings from the field, grounding the content in real-world practice rather than theory alone. Throughout the modules, you’ll be invited to reflect on your own leadership context and identify small, achievable actions you can take to better support your team’s wellbeing.

By the end of this micro-credential, you’ll have greater clarity about your role in promoting wellbeing, increased confidence in facilitating supports with your team, and practical tools to embed care, connection and sustainability into how your team works. Whether you’re new to leadership or have been managing teams for some time, this program is designed to meet you where you are.
