Welcome to the Micro-credential: Hosting Mental Health and Peer Work Trainees

You’re probably here because something about traineeships caught your attention, and now you want to understand what they actually involve before you go any further.

Maybe you’re weighing whether it’s realistic for your organisation right now. Maybe you need enough of the picture to know how to raise it with your manager or leadership team. Maybe you’re just not sure if the timing is right, or whether the traineeship model fits the kind of work or organisation you’re in.

This micro-credential is designed for exactly that stage of the conversation.

It will walk you through what a traineeship can look like in practice, what your organisation would take on, and what the common sticking points are and how others have worked through them. If you decide it’s worth pursuing, it will also break down every step so you can move forward with clarity rather than guesswork.

Approximate duration: 2 – 3 hours (self-paced)

Audience: Managers, team leaders, and workforce development staff in Queensland community mental health and peer work organisations considering hosting a Certificate IV Mental Health or Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work trainee.

Format: Self-paced online resource. Short videos, written content, reflections, activities and interactive elements.

This program is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.
